Fever

The pain was tremendous, keeping me from all my daily activities, and from sleeping at all. My only relief, be it ever so brief, was coating my tooth and surrounding gum with Extra Strength Orajel. As I dealt with this pain, it felt as if time was slowing, like some evil force was making the weekend go ever so slow as to keep Monday, and a needed dentist appointment, from ever arriving; and I was already on my second tube of Orajel, which was giving me massive stomach cramps from using way too much.

At last, I made it through one last night of the horrible pain, and it was Monday morning. I place a call at 8am to my family dentist office, and was schedule for an appointment at the earliest time they could get me in, 11am. Using my last bit or Orajel I had left, I made it to the appointment, and was led through the office into a room, sat in the chair and was told the doctor would be with me shortly.

“Hmm, looks like we’re going to have to pull it. Though luckily, it is just a wisdom tooth!” My dentist stated with somewhat of a joyous tone, like he couldn’t wait to pull that sucker out, as if his whole time in college and dental school, his whole career had led him to this single moment, this moment that brought him such happiness; tooth extraction. With two shots of Novocain, I could no longer feel the pain, and soon the tooth was out of my mouth, and I didn’t even feel it. What a relief, though I couldn’t smoke or drink through a straw (the later being no problem) for a 24 hour period while a blood clot formed where my tooth use to be, all was well.

Oh, This weekend was also ruined by a terrible stomach flu that left me bed ridden, and throwing up nonstop Friday night. As I post this I am feeling much better, and my luck just in time for the workweek to begin.
